在经济日趋全球化的今天，有没有民族经济这个概念？回答是肯定的。作为生产要素之一的资本是有民族性的，否则就没有外商独资、合资、三资企业这样的分别。引进外国资金，为我发展所用，这是必需的手段，必要性毋庸置疑。但是，可是引进来的资本终究是人家的，利用是有代价的，人家也不会白白送给你的。对外开放还要坚持独立自主，我们的眼光向外，“引进来”的同时，也要学会“走出去”。“走出去”是民族经济发展这一关乎民族未来的重大课题，这是中国经济发展的要求。

走出去靠什么？宏观层面靠竞争优势产业，微观层面是靠民族企业的竞争优势。企业的竞争的最高层面就是品牌竞争。

中国家电开始走出去了，海尔首当其冲。海尔已经成为世界100大著名品牌之一（第95位）。
反观中国民族汽车呢？别说走出去，就是在国内立足都有点困难。
这种状况是怎么造成的呢？

我们的汽车工业没有把树立民族汽车品牌放在第一位，长期以来致力于为外商贴牌，为他人品牌壮大做嫁衣裳。以牺牲自有品牌发展为代价积极引进外资，到头来受制于外资，弄得“干儿子”风风光光，却忽视了“亲生儿子”的健康发展。这是中国民族汽车工业路子越走越窄的关键原因。
“技术拿过来就是自己的，但是品牌不一样。”打造一个名牌不是件容易的事，需要一个一个长期战略。需要认识到位，政策对头，积极行动。家电行业一直以来是日本的天下，现在来看，家电行业发生了翻天覆地的变化，原因就是我们的市场培育了一大批民族家电名牌。格兰仕在给别人贴牌的同时，也没忘打造自己的名牌。而上海大众生产桑塔纳的同时，就把上海牌轿车当个死孩子扔了。
